Partitioning external HD
I am going to buy a Lacie d2 Quadra 1 TB external HD for my primary bootable backup of my mac pro, and I was wondering, are there any disadvantages to partitioning the large HD up in, say, three smaller partitons so that I can keep three separate bootable backups on the external HD?
Eg. One main backup of the system, and two "working" backups that I would then do every other week. Is it safe to partition the drive up this way and use it for full, bootable backups? Regards, Esben |
The only disadvantage, as you might expect, is that if the drive fails you'll lose all three backups. Separating backups physically can be quite useful in that case.
