SuperDuper! and Solid State Devices

I am considering adding a SSD to my MacPro. However, On the Apple discussion boards, problems have been reported with using SuperDuper! to backup or restore from a regular hard drive to the solid state. Can any one shed some light on the subject?

There is no problem copying to SSD drives: we don't interact with a drive at a low level, and we're simply copying files. If there are users having problems with SSDs, it's because their SSD is having issues... not because SD! is doing anything weird.

SSD with SuperDuper!

I bought a Crucial 250GB SSD last September. I used SuperDuper! to copy my hard drive to the SSD and I also use SSD about once/week to back up the SSD. No problems at all. Some day SSD drives will ship on everything and hard drives will go away.

Thanks Dave. Just to be sure I properly phrased my question - I am thinking of making the SSD my primary drive; backing up would still be to my external LaCie HD. It's the cloning back from the HD to the SSD that seems to be an issue for some.

As I said, it's not a problem at all. If some are having problems, and blaming the issue on SuperDuper!, they're just plain wrong.

Their issue is related to hardware, not software. All we're doing is copying files. If the SSD cannot handle having files copied to it, with standard file copy APIs, there's something seriously wrong with it.
