smart update runs out of space

I am backing up a disk that is mostly full onto another disk of the same size. Let's say there's only 1G free, and I have a 2G file. After backing up, I delete the 2G file and add another 2G file and try to back up again. In situations like this, smart update sometimes fails, because it might try to copy the new file before deleting the old one.

Perhaps instead, if smart update ever fails to copy a file because it is out of room, it should add that file to a list and keep going, and once big files are deleted go back and try to copy them again?

We've got some good ideas to help improve Smart Update in a future version, and this is one area we're focusing on. Thanks for the suggestion!

I searched and found this. Has this feature been added?

My smart update failed due to lack of space. But the 2 drives are exactly the same size. I have just recently deleted and moved around a bunch of files, renamed folders etc.

It seems smart update is copying across whole folders of files that have only had a folder name change. Which would be fine if it had deleted the old folders before hand.

Is there a way to make SD delete the non-existant files then copy the "new" files?

Obviously there is erase and copy, but thats too long, is there a way to make Smart update do it?

Thanks.

If you know you've done this kind of thing, you can rename the folder yourself on the destination...
