Two scheduled backups back to back

How is it possible to have SuperDuper kicked off by a schedule and another backup that is also schedule to start after the other one finishes? Obviously I can space them apart timewise and hope its enough time, but I'm wondering if there is a better way to have two backup jobs linked to each other some how so that one follows the other always. Or that being said, is there any problem if two instances of SuperDuper fire off jobs overlapping each other?

Just set them for the same time, or a minute off each other. They automatically wait for the previous copy to finish and start after.

Oh excellent. One question, will that work regardless of whether I schedule SD from within SD itself (cron) or if I schedule it myself externally in launchd?

I might just end up writing a wrapper script anyway around the whole thing that schedules in launchd(because that's what I use for everything else). Among other things, I want to perform a couple SD backups in a row, and also mount samba volumes, possibly call a JungleDisk online cloud backup when its all done, etc. Actually there is more, before the SD backup I want to also run some various little scripts that do things like export iCal, export AddressBook, etc..

So I can't decide whether it would be better to modify that copy script of SD to do all that stuff before and after in Applescript, or write one larger wrapper script that calls everything and schedule that wrapper script in launchd

What are your thoughts on any of this?

This works when you schedule in SD. If you're scheduling on your own, managing all this is up to you. And you can use before/after shell scripts to do most of what you're mentioning.

Hello. Is this still a valid comment for the latest version 3.2.4? Running from within the software GUI? I would love to have all the backups run one after the other without my choosing different days and times. Thanks.

If you don't care about the order, don't choose different days and times. Just set them as needed.

From the scheduled copies window, you can multi-select as many schedules as you want to run and click "Copy Now".
