Windows XP "equivalent" to Super Duper?
I have heard Acronis True Image is close BUT does anyone know if it can create a bootable clone from an external USB drive WITHOUT using cds?

Nope
No, it can not. I checked into this by calling Acronis myself. The tech guy acted amazed at the idea that one could create a bootable clone (on any platform). There entire strategy is to boot from the stupid CDs and then restore from the backed up drive. Doing things the "SuperDuper!" way seems to be unheard of in the PC world. The only Windows app that MAY do it is Retrospect for Windows. It does have a duplicate function as well as a "back Up" function, and I've used it on the PC, but I've never had to restore a PC with it. You may have to use CDs with it too. I also discoved that some PCs (i.e. Alienware) can't even boot from an extermal drive!!! I assume you're wanting to back up Boot Camp though so I'm not sure what the deal is with that, but I'd love to know too.
I hope this was of some help. Jim |
