What does the "Alert before installing a package" item mean in the main preference pane?

SP: Even though the other ones fairly obvious - might you include a brief description of the preference items in the manual?

That particular one just suppresses the "Apple does not recommend installing packages on non-boot volumes" prompt that comes up when you use one of the advanced options. I'm tempted to get rid of the checkbox entirely -- it's probably the least useful thing in the current UI. :(
