Hi Dave,

Initial backups ran smoothly for both iMac and iBook. Used Smart Update. Faster times than previous version. I'll post times next time I bu. Also, I'll get a bit more creative with some of the new features after I have a look at the manual.

The new screens and information provided are great additions. Nice to know what is happening. Also, repairing permissions as an option is a real ++++.

Thanks so much for your creative efforts in making a great product even better. Glad you increased the price. Your skills deserve a just reward. :p

My external HD thanks you, and so do I!!!! :D

Glad you're enjoying using it! Sorry it took so long, but there are a huge number of changes in there...

Here's the copy time for my G5 iMac (did not repair permissions)

Disk size 232.76 gb/ used 43.9 gb
size of partition 60 gb
LaCie d2 firewire 160 gb

Smart Update
Files evaluated 193,858
Copied - 560
avg speed 220
time 3:24

Best time I've seen with this app. Seems whatever was creating long copy times in the previous version have been fixed! :D

I'll post back with my iBook times.

Curious: what is the read speed when a file is being copied? Does it vary based on file type? Also, other than copying files, is there any other factor slowing the read speed from Firewire's optimum?

Cool, glad things are going well.

The FW interface speed doesn't have much to do with it, since there are a lot of processes running, etc... the value in SD! is fun to look at though -- feel free to compete with your friends! :)
