I invested a lot of time this week (after a serious crash) to find a prog that could easy and reliably make a backup of my hard disk and at the same time provide me with a bootable clone in case thing really go bad.

I have tried, without success:
Personal Backup (Intego)
Carbon Copy Cloner
Synk
but no one could beat my last try: SuperDuper! :)

Thanks, Cezanne! I'm glad that you've found us -- and that we're working well for you.

And wait until you see v2.0! :)

Any idea when it comes out?

ok, might be tomorrow, right?!

one other question, since you are so quick with your answers... :)

I succesfully made a clone of my 40Gb harddisk, using SuperDuper, but what I did not understand: in the beginning of the backup/cloning process things went really fast, but in the course of te process SD seemed to have more troubles with backing up, sometimes an application to be backed up took minutes, before the next file was handled; any idea what's happening here?

I can pretty much guarantee it won't be tomorrow. :)

It's not really having "trouble", it's just not listing all the files it's going through. This'll be a lot different in v2.0, though.
