i have currently setup superduper to 'backup all files' automatically everynite via cronnix.

i wonder if this is overkill, and that rewriting my harddisk every nite is going to reduce the lifetime of it.

what i need to autoback up is the changes, new files made on the day. when i update, install new applications i can do a manual 'all files' cloning

should is switch to 'backup user files' ?, if so is backup new files, or backup different files the rite one to chose. i want to back up changes made to my hd during the day and any new files saved to it

on the reverse if 'backup all files; is the easiest/best option i am fine to stick to it

tks

If you're using "Smart Update", it doesn't rewrite the whole drive, it only makes the changes necessary to update the backup to match what you've now got. Since SuperDuper! is going to scan the entire drive every time, it won't save time to switch the script.

So -- as long as you're not using "erase, then copy", I don't think you have much to worry about.
