View Full Version : Can't Boot In

I just purchased a new HGST 6TB USB hard drive. Used the newest version of SuperDuper to make a full backup. I tested it to make sure that I could boot to it but it will not boot up. OS X 10.12 (and Startup Disk) sees the hard drive and all of the backup data just fine, it just won't let me boot in.

Any idea on how to fix this?

Is this with an older Mac? It may not be fully compatible at the BIOS level with the drive.

Did you partition the drive?

It's a mid 2010 Mac mini. The drive was partitioned. I've never had any problems on the Mac mini with booting up with the previous version of SuperDuper.

This has nothing to do with the version of SuperDuper! you are using.

If you partitioned the drive, I'm guessing that one of the partitions started past the 2TB mark or so. The BIOS can't see it, and that's why it can't boot.

Try copying to the other partition: the start point of the boot volume has to be within around 2TB.
