Hi

I have noticed that when restoring the internal drive from a smart update backup the system files do not necessarily are restored in the first tracks of the drive but they maintain the position they had on the backup drive.
I need to know if there's an option to force restore to write to first tracks system files. (I use to format the drive before restore)

Thank you very much
Pasha

No, they do not maintain the position they had - we're copying by file, not by sector.

You can't specify where things are going to go, no. However, the system will -- over a few boots -- automatically optimize its own placement via the Hotfile cache.

Hi Dnanian,

Thanks for reply. I was getting this wrong assumption because after I restored, lately I was able to inspect the disk with iDefrag and I was showed a big empty space at the beginning of the drive. I'll research about hotfile cache.

Thanks again,
Pasha
