I just finished migrating everything over from my old Snow Leopard machine to a new Mountain Lion machine. Everything appeared to be working right, until a little while ago, when tonight's scheduled backup kicked in...and failed (something to do with my printer?):

How can my printer not be configured, when, in fact, it appears to be functioning properly? (Besides, even if I had a problem with my printer, why would it interfere with SD!'s operation?)

Nick - posting these types of logs to the forums isn't terribly helpful - that's why we have the convenient "Send to Shirt Pocket" button.

But this looks to be a destination error, which is why it says "unable to write...". And it has nothing to do with your physical printer, but rather the Printer framework for HP on the drive.

Sorry, Dave...

Any suggestions what I might do? (Since I've migrated from the old machine to the new one, perhaps I screwed up something?)

Also: Does the log in any way suggest that my data (on my SD! drive) has been adversely affected? (The "unable to write..." sounds like the SD! drive was left untouched, and it remains an effective clone...albeit not quite up-to-date.)

You should go through the steps in the Troubleshooting section of the User's Guide (apart from determining whether it was read or write, since it was a write problem). And yes, - it's likely the data on the backup may be adversely affected, since the drive itself may be failing. Certainly, the file listed is bad at present.

Well, I ran SD! (as well as let it run per its schedule) repeatedly these past few days, and everything appears to be OK — no more glitches, and the resulting backups appear to be fine.

Thanks, Dave.

PS: The drive is a brand new LaCie, so I think it's unlikely (relatively speaking) that it's failing.
