I have a standard Mac boot disk of software and user data.

I want to copy to a fresh drive (SSD) drive only the System, and Application files not the User data files.

I want to be able to boot from this system only drive - can Superduper help me do this - I want to avoid a re installation of the whole system and applications.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Where are you going to keep the User files? In general, "Sandbox - shared users" will do what you're trying to do here, but it will reference the source volume...

I shall have the following set of drives
SSD for System, Applications, System Library.
Hardrive 1 for all User data apart from data on Harddrive 2
Hardrive 2 - Aperture Databases, Image files (I use the refrrenced file system in Aperture)

In the System Preferences Accounts I will used the Advanced settings to tell MacOSX that the user directories are on Hardrive 1 and not on the default SSD.

Well, creating the Sandbox should still work, it'll just ignore the symlinked user files.

Thank you it worked a treat and I now know what the Sandbox is.
Thanks
