I have drive permanently connected to my iMac by firewire.
I have a portable WD Passport drive that I use with my Macbook Air.

When I connect the passport drive to the iMac I want SD! to run and back it up to the firewire connected drive.

The problem is that the 'When you connect...' option is only available for the permanently connected firewire drive that I'm backing up to, not the passport drive I'm backing up from.

Have I missed a trick here or is the option not available at this time?

Backup on connect is only designed for when you connect a backup drive, not a source.

That's a shame. When I connect the Passport to my Air it backs up to the Passport - nice and simple and nothing to remember.

I'd really like the Passport to backup when I connect it to my iMac, without needing to remember.

Is it something you'd consider adding?

I'll certainly consider it, but it's not something that has ever been asked for before, and I tend not to add things that don't offer a significant benefit to a large number of SD! users.

Great. Thank you.

I keep my iTunes library on the Passport, so that when I add to it from the iMac or the Air, I'm always working with a full version. Connecting back to the iMac would then cause it to backup.

It also means I can fully sync my iPhone to either machine.

Maybe, until the feature is added, users wouldn't know they needed it! ;)
