smart update greyed

Hi,
I backuped several computers, and I just noticed some of them are unable to perform a smart update. The option is greyed out. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, using appcleaner, but it remains the same. Any clues ?

It would be grayed out if your destination selection was a read-only image.
