I am getting a window that pops up every once in awhile that says that the automatic check for a new version of SuperDuper has failed after X number of attempts. It gives me the option to "Manually Check", which I do. It always seems to be able to determine that I have the latest version when I check manually, but not able to run these checks automatically.

We have two machines here running SuperDuper on 10.6.1 and they both have this problem.

Is this a known bug? I was getting this in the previous version too and also before I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know why that would be, actually. We occasionally have these reports, but we're doing the same thing in both cases, basically.

Are you using Little Snitch or similar outbound firewalls? Anything unusual about your network configuration?

Hi Dave,

We are not running anything unusual that I am aware of. Not using that app you mentioned. Nothing special with our firewall. Just Apple defaults.

Every time I check the CHECK MANUALLY button, SD goes out and checks your server and quickly reports that I have the most current version. Takes it all of about 1 second after hitting the button to do this.

I primarily run SD on a schedule every night. I am rarely at the machines when they run their backups. Seems every time I open the app manually, I see one of these messages.

I'm not sure why this would be. Perhaps the com.blacey.SuperDuper!.plist in ~/Library/Preferences is read-only?

We started having the same problem with a computer running Leopard. This is not running Little Snitch or any other firewall and the plist is writable.

So, it gives an error when you start SD!, but when you run it manually it's fine... every time?
