simple starter question

I've used SuperDuper! happily for a while. Since I just replaced an internal disk with a larger one, I decided to set up my backup with a larger, external FW disk also.

It's a LaCie little disk 500 GB.

My questions: Should I format the disk before doing the SuperDuper! backup? Is there a particular format I should use?

Yes, you should fully partition and format the drive. See this FAQ entry (shirt-pocket.com/forums/showthread.php?p=26877).

Aha, thanks, perfect. Skimmed that article before, saw "partition" and didn't think it was for me (not doing multiple partitions). Now I get it. :)
