View Full Version : Smart Update -- "No Space Left on Device"

I use SuperDuper to backup my internal hard drive every morning.

My internal has 110 gb of data and a capacity of 149 gb

The partition on the external to which I back up has the same capacity and all it is used for in the daily backup of the internal -- no other files.

But today I got the "No Space Left on Device" message. Any ideas?

I assume there are some temp files or some such at play. I can increase the size of the partition if needed -- would that help?

I'm using SuperDuper 2.5 (v84) on a G5 iMac running OSX 10.4.11

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

I don't know... have you reviewed the Troubleshooting section of the User's Guide? I've got some detailed steps that can help resolve disk full errors.

Thanks Dave

As a start I'll do the erase and copy.

The file it got hung up on was the iTunes genius -- maybe iTunes was updating as SuperDuper was trying to copy.

If it happens again with that file I'll see if I can do something on that end.

Thanks again.

After trying to fix / clean / repair / ... I went in and deleted the file that always hung up SD.

The copy went well and I can't find any troubles with iTunes where the file lived.

Thanks

The genius database is large. Were you getting an error? Did you leave it for a long time? Was iTunes *running*?

I have my computer set to turn on at 6:00 am and run a backup.

iTunes also opens at login.

So I wonder if the two running together caused troubles.

I have now turned of the "open at login" for iTunes.

The file was 260 mb.

So far so good.
