As I gather, it is wise to leave the Mac alone while SuperDuper does its thing.

I have scheduled SuperDuper to do daily smart updates, and I want it to suspend Parallels before it starts. Or at least, I think I want that :-)

Should it, and can it?

You should suspend & quit Parallels before you back up, yes. But, no - we can't do it for you. You could probably come up with a way to do it with a "before copy" shell script...

Thanks, that sounds reasonable. Are "before copy" shells scripts something for the faint hearted? I've seen the option, but can't really say I know what it is or how I could create one. Are they specific to SuperDuper, or general to the system?

They're pretty technical, actually, and not something that could generally be done casually (unless you're a developer).
