I'm thinking of upgrading my Macbook Pro 17" Intel Core 2 Duo. What I know is that I would have to put my current HD into an enclosure (running Tiger OS 10.4.11) and hook it up to my new HD (running Leopard) and do a migration.

Now I have 2 questions before I purchase SD

1) Will I have to download and register SD into my new computer?
2) What about programs whom I no longer have the serial numbers? Will I have to find them again? (programs like Snapz Pro whose serial number was e-mailed to me before a HD crash 2 years ago)

this is the new harddrive I'm intending to get

The customer service rec me SuperDuper since my biggest issue with Migration Assistant on Mac is that you have to re-enter all the serial numbers again for the programs to work...esp Final Cut Studio (at least I have that one).

Any help will be appreciated! Thank you very much

If the software you're copying 'ties' itself to the drive in some way due to the method of activation they use, it won't run on the restored drive without reauthorization. I believe Snapz works just fine, though -- as do most programs.
