I have a imac with 250GB hard disk ( show 230mb )

I am going to partition it to >>>
main mac system 130GB ( all mac system+ application )
and 100GB for data storage. ( doc + files )

then I can use superdiper and mirror the main system to my firewire 150gb external harddisk.

after that, I can bootup my mac by external harddisk if there is any issue.....

after boot by external harddisk, all setup, program can run and everything is same and

I can access the 100GB data storage.

pls tell me that this is OK and thanks

Why are you going to partition like this?

My imac is 230GB in size, it use 100GB for system + application,

I have a firewire hard disk is 150GB, which is smaller than 230gb,

I need to mirror the imac ( everything ) to the firewire harddisk,

what should I do ? pls let me know the detail steps.

The steps are in the User's Guide, Peter -- the first few sections. I strongly discourage you from partitioning the source drive...

Ok, so I can use superduper >>>
backup - all files

and mirror all the 100GB file of 230GB imac

to 150 GB firewire external hard drive.

( no need to partition ) thanks

Yes. You do need to make sure you're properly partitioned for the Mac, though... you should use the "GUID" partition scheme, even for ONE partition.
