I've run into this problem a couple of time with my Mac G4 and SuperDuper. I have two internal SATA drives, and, on occasion, the system boots from the backup drive. The setting in System Preferences is correct, although the lock doesn't remain set when I leave and reenter the preference window. I tried renaming the backup drive to zBackup hoping alphanumeric ordering might make a difference, but no go. I also added a switch to the hot wire going to the backup drive, so I could flip it on during or after bootup as a workaround. This works for getting the proper drive to boot, but, so far, I can't see the backup drive on the desktop the couple of times I tried to get it to work. But, in any case, this is only a workaround, and I need a more proper and permanent solution. Would it help to put the backup drive in a USB enclosure? Any other ideas?

As I indicated in our support thread, the only thing I know of that can do this is actually setting your startup disk to the "wrong" disk, either manually or by choosing the option in your "On successful completion" options...

Right, Dave. But since those didn't lead to a solution in my particular case, I remain a Seeker of Truth.
Thanks!
