I'm new at this. The drive looks like it's accessing info after I backup. Should I unmount. How do you remount?

followup: it's "quiet now", verified okay.

Is it best to leave it mounted? will scheduled backup work if unmounted?

------------------------
Dumb question: Does Super Duper have to be running for scheduled backup to occcur?

A scheduled backup will automatically mount/copy/unmount. SD! does not have to be running, no -- but there are some caveats: please see the scheduling section of the User's Guide.

Is mounting/unmounting the same as "eject". FOr example, if I eject my backup drive, when I run SD it can;t find it and I have to plug it in again for it to find it...I guess I don't understand the mount/unmount. I thought unmounted meant it did not show on desktop.

Yes, it's the same as eject. But SD! can't find a drive when you run manually, but can when you schedule. (You don't have to plug in, though, manually -- just open Disk Utility, select the "grey" drive and tell it to mount it.)
