I want to backup my server (OS X 10.4 Tiger Server) to an external (LaCie firewire) drive. It is only the startup system disk, with no shared files.

What do I do when starting up the computer? Do I need to hold down a key to stop the server software from starting up? I noticed some errors in the server log when SuperDuper tried to copy some forbidden files.

For what it's worth, I'm backing up an OS X Tiger Server with SD! and it works great. This is done on a live system, too. Only thing I had to keep in mind was to prevent copying of rapidly growing files (such as the httpd access logs).

Are you trying to get rid of the errors in the log? What are the errors?

Best.

Right: as Jonas said, it should work just fine. What errors did you get?

No I was being paranoid- I tried an alt-restart and it was fine. Amazing. I'd better buy it now!

Great: glad you're all set. (And thanks, Jonas!)

Yes thanks both. This is an awsomely simple but effective program. Well done all.
