I'll be using my licensed version of SD! to move from a PPC PB to an Intel MBP.

I will not have access to the old computer when the new one arrives. So I will need to use migration assistant from a SD! disk image on my backup hard drive.

Seeing as I'm moving from PPC to Intel, what's the best way to format the backup drive? For the PPC or the Intel?

Any tips on how to make this run as smoothly as possible/best procedure to use when creating the initial backup and then when transferring onto the new computer?

Thanks in advance!

Dave's out travelling and will not be able to respond as quickly as he usually does.

I don't think it's possible to format a drive for PPC or Intel. Both OS versions use the same file format.

Best.

You'll want to initially partition with Apple Partition Map, so you can test the drive before you use it for migration (of course, you can also migrate directly from the Power PC Mac itself with the Migration Assistant, if you'd like).

Once you're sure, you'll migrate, and then I'd repartition with the "GUID" partition scheme for your Intel Mac.

Hope that helps!
