What a mess I've created:

I was preparing my 8500 to give away to a family member.

It has two internal HD: original 2 GB plus 40 GB.

In the process I erased both drives and installed OS 9 to the original 2 GB.

Then tried to update PANTHER ( on second harddrive ) to TIGER but the EXPOSTFacto stopped at the point it realized that it was dealing with a external FW drive. Also tried Sonnet's version but it did the same thing.

So I tried to re-install PANTHER but the CD installer would not mount. There was momentary green lite flash on the optical drive but that's was all.

I then replaced that CD optical drive and here again the CD would not mount.

My thought is that there is some corruption in the OS 9.

Because the OS 9 CD installer will not mount can I use SuperDuper from a firewired harddrive?:o :o :) :o

Or, another ideas how I can get myself out of this mess.

If you can start up from a FireWire drive, we can certainly work from it, yes -- assuming you're running OSX, of course.
