I hate having to switch to the netTunes just to pause the playback. How about a menu control?

There is one. Just make sure they're turned on in the preferences.

Now if only netTunes would wake up the remote mac via Wake-on-LAN or something. I am going to have to cobble something together with GUI Applescripting or something until then.

Maybe I will spend some time and learn Cocoa and create some code that you can use.
