Hello. I rebuilt my powerbook after a crash by partitioning it so there would be 2 OS partitions and one shared partition between them (i.e. my user directory is on a single partition and is symbolically linked to the two OS partitions.) This enabled me to upgrade one OS to check for compatibility while leaving the other untouched but still to have my prefs/desktop/documents the same for both.

Anyway I am wondering about a backup strategy for this arrangement. Obviously my shared partition is where everything important is, but I also wish to incrementally backup my main OS partition.

Advice?

Thanks!

Just make enough volumes/partitions on your destination drive to map 1:1 with your sources. So, if there are three partitions on your PowerBook, you'll have three partitions on the drive, and schedule three backups, one for each source, backing up to its corresponding destination.

Note, though, that a Sandbox will accomplish your goals with *two* partitions, one small (and you don't have to back it up, either, in general). Works quite well: see the User's Guide for a full explanation.
