In order to regularly schedule backups, I tried "Do it Now" [http://www.radicalbreeze.com/dothisnow/index.shtml]. Works great! My mac turns itstelf on at 0455 Monday morning, SuperDuper! saves a clone to the external hard drive, and the computer then shuts down.
