I have noticed that the the 'dev' folder is consistently visible at the top level of the target after a full clone.

I know that there used to be an issue on Panther where the invisible system folders such as 'network' and 'mach' would be visible until the Finder was refreshed.

This is happening on a new clean install of 10.4.3 and the 'dev' folder seems to be visible on the target even after a restart.

Expected, Timmy: the folder is hidden by Finder itself when you boot from the drive, but not when it's non-boot.

Thanks for the explanation!

You bet. Just don't delete it, OK? :)

Sorry to dig up an old post. Does this explanation extend to the hidden "automount" "Desktop", "Desktop Folder", and "Trash" directories?

Hey, Shaun. (Everyone -- go buy Mint (http://www.haveamint.com) right now!)

Yes -- anything that's shown on the destination that's not visible on the source is usually hidden dynamically by Finder when the drive is a startup drive. We definitely copy the hidden attribute if it's provided to us...
